About the role:
The SAPOL Transition Program is a condensed transition course for experienced police officers. The role will be a full-time General Duties position within the South Australia Police. You will be joining a team who truly makes a difference enabling safer communities in South Australia. What you'll be doing:
Training with SAPOL will be undertaken at our Police Academy at Taperoo and will combine academic studies in law, policy and procedure with practical and physical training. Experienced police officers will undergo a streamlined transition program.
After successfully completing your training, you will be part of a team who provide frontline services to the community, which will include mobile patrols to prevent and detect crime, maintaining law and order and undertaking an active role in traffic policing and road safety campaigns.
You will then have the opportunity for further training, with more than 40 professional specialities - no matter where your interests lie, you will be sure to find a role that is the right fit for you.
Some of the tasks you will perform as a police officer include:
-
Preventing, detecting and investigating offences in areas such as street offences, family violence, traffic, drugs and alcohol.
-
Securing and examining crime scenes and accidents to locate and obtain evidence.
-
Maintaining public safety.
-
General patrols in identified areas to minimise the potential for public disturbance and crime.
-
Investigating accidents, crimes, minor offences and public complaints.
-
Gathering evidence and investigating, arresting and interviewing suspects.
-
Testing persons suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and issuing infringement notices for traffic offences.
-
Directing and controlling traffic at congested areas.
-
Attending at community engagement events.
-
Providing advice and assistance to victims of crime and their families.
-
Maintaining records and preparing reports.
-
Attending court.
What's on offer:
For experienced police officers, upon permanent appointment the rate of remuneration will be based on an assessment of prior service. Recruits with demonstrated police experience may be appointed at a level commensurate with their expertise, up to the rank of senior constable.
As a new recruit and upon completion of training, probationary constables will receive $80,190. The expected salary range will be $109,724 to $119,244 upon permanent appointment, inclusive of shift penalties and depending on experience and classification. Successful applicants will be eligible for reimbursement of relocation expenses of up to $10,000, subject to Terms & Conditions.

Eligibility:
Experienced police officers applying for the SAPOL Transition Program must satisfy the following:

An Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident.

Able to meet medical, fitness and psychometric requirements.

Able to complete operational training and be willing to carry and use operational safety equipment, including a firearm.

Complete a series of assessments to ensure suitability.

Have a minimum of three years of relevant experience

Hold a current full class driver's licence
