Hello, hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte
Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.
About the Group
Step One of Canva's simple two-step plan is to build one of the world's most valuable companies. Our Reporting and Accounting Policy team plays a key role in this, ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting which builds trust with investors and enables effective decision-making.
We have team members located in Australia, the United States and the Philippines demystifying accounting standards and making complex things simple for our stakeholders, and we thrive on turning challenges into strategic opportunities. We create a solid financial foundation, that supports all of Canva's continued growth and global expansion.
About the Role
Our Reporting and Accounting policy team plays a pivotal role in bridging between complex accounting principles and real-world business impact, providing insights and direction that directly influence decision-making. Your work in this role will ensure that as Canva scales globally, our financial integrity and reporting is world-class. We look beyond the numbers and embrace strategic thinking, understanding how our work steers Canva's long-term success. You'll work closely with the finance team and other business units, where trust and reliability will be key tools in your success.
If you have knack for seeing the big picture of debits and credits, have excellent communication skills and can reference accounting standards off the top of your head - this is the role for you
What you'll be doing:
As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. While no two days looking the same is part of the fun, these are the types of things you'll be working on:
- Support the preparation of annual financial statements and disclosures for Canva's Group audit and local entity reporting requirements.
- Manage the external audit process, including timely coordination of audit requests.
- Support internal control compliance.
- Lead research and documentation of complex and non-routine accounting issues (e.g., revenue recognition, lease accounting, equity arrangements, business combinations).
- Draft, maintain, and update accounting policies and procedures in accordance with applicable standards (US GAAP, IFRS, and local GAAP).
- Advise internal stakeholders on accounting implications of proposed business transactions and corporate initiatives.
- Monitor and interpret changes in accounting standards; assess and communicate their impact to the business.
- Ensure consistent application of accounting principles across entities.
- Collaborate with FP&A, Legal, Tax, and Operations on accounting matters and special initiatives.
- Provide accounting support for M&A activity, including due diligence and integration.
- Partner with systems or IT teams to support finance transformation and automation projects.
- Drive process improvements and increase the efficiency and quality of reporting deliverables.
What we're looking for:
We're looking for someone who is driven by curiosity and has a passion for simplifying the complexity of accounting. Our ideal candidate is creative in strategy and vision, with the ability to distill the bigger picture into clear insights and accounting decisions. You're eager to learn and thrive on contributing to something bigger than the sum of it's parts, and celebrating the success of others. You find you're at your best collaborating with others, and you're not afraid to take the initiative when using your skills to drive Canva's mission forward. You may be a match if:
- You have a demonstrated expertise and passion for financial reporting and technical accounting, and may have experience applying accounting principles under multiple reporting frameworks (e.g., IFRS, US GAAP)

- You have a Business, Finance or Accounting degree, and a CA/CPA or equivalent qualification
- You are are detail-oriented and excel at breaking down complex accounting topics, in order to communicate with clarity to various stakeholders

Achieving our crazy big goals motivates us to work hard - and we do - but you'll experience lots of moments of magic, connectivity and fun woven throughout life at Canva, too. We also offer a range of benefits to set you up for every success in and outside of work.
