We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Warehouse Supervisor to assist the Logistics and Warehouse Manager with the day-to-day operations of our Distribution Centre. This role requires a strong focus on team supervision, inventory control, safety compliance and workflow coordination—especially in an environment handling Dangerous Goods.
As a key member of our logistics team, the Warehouse Supervisor will manage the warehouse team's performance, ensure safe and compliant handling of chemicals and support efficient dispatch and customer service for our Dominant, Bell Chemicals and Cafetto brands.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols, especially related to the handling and storage of Dangerous Goods (DG), including proper labelling and segregation based on DG classifications.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure warehouse safety, quality standards and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain a clean, organised and hazard-free warehouse environment, optimising space utilisation where possible.
- Operate and oversee the preventive maintenance of warehouse equipment and vehicles (e.g., forklifts) in accordance with safety standards.
- Support the Logistics and Warehouse Manager with safety and compliance-related tasks and reporting.
Inventory Management
- Manage receipting of finished goods from Production into Warehouse, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
- Oversee inventory control processes including regular cycle counts, stock-on-hand reporting and inventory accuracy.
- Monitor and prioritise backorders to maintain effective stock availability and customer satisfaction.
- Identify and report any picking or quality discrepancies impacting stock integrity or order fulfillment.
Warehouse Operations & Efficiency
- Supervise and develop warehouse team members through clear task delegation, performance management, time and attendance tracking and on-the-job training.
- Prioritise and assign picking slips and workflows to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
- Oversee quality control of picked orders prior to dispatch, ensuring all products meet company and customer standards.
- Provide responsive and professional customer service to clients collecting orders on-site.
- Support warehouse administration, including accurate timekeeping and leave management for warehouse staff.
Logistics & Freight Management
- Coordinate daily transport bookings and associated documentation, including preparation of CHEP pallets as required.
- Organise and supply necessary shipment documentation, such as labels, packing slips and Dangerous Goods paperwork.
- Supervise couriers and transport providers in the loading area to ensure safe and efficient loading practices.
- Liaise with internal teams and freight providers to ensure timely dispatch and delivery of goods.
Key Requirements
- Forklift licence (Mandatory)
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems and inventory software (Microsoft Dynamics preferred).
- Understanding of WHS, Dangerous Goods regulations and road transport legislation.
- Skilled in manual handling and understanding of safe handling of Dangerous Goods
- Proven experience supervising in a logistics or warehouse environment.
- Familiarity with modern warehousing methods, inventory practices and quality control standards.
- Excellent communication, literacy and numeracy.
