Why this Role?
As a specialist member of a multi-disciplinary team working in a school, you will connect with students, staff, parents, carers and the broader community. This position provides services such as counselling, assessment and intervention, focusing on students' mental health and wellbeing.

The FTE is negotiable with both full time and part time fractions available and open to consideration with the successful applicants.

We are seeking psychologists and provisional psychologists who are interested in working in Secondary and/or Primary school settings in various locations in the Brisbane West, and the Ipswich area.

We are recruiting for a number of schools, including Brassall State School.

Central to its approach is a strong multidisciplinary team already in place, dedicated to supporting students with challenges through tailored interventions and collaborative care. Making a Difference: The Impactful Role of a School-Based Psychologist

  • Individual and group counselling and therapeutic interventions with students, parents and families.
  • Administer specialised psych-educational assessment of students with learning and/or adjustment difficulties including assessments of cognitive, academic, behavioural, emotional, social and adaptive functioning.
  • Coordinate or assist in the implementation of specific professional in-service training for teachers, parents, schools and other professionals in relation to supporting students' mental health and wellbeing.
  • Support and manage diagnoses from external providers, monitoring students' progress
  • Assist school communities to respond to critical incidents and provide counselling and support to affected students
  • Identify needs and participate in the referral, coordination and planning of services for children, parents and families with other stakeholders including community health agencies
  • Complete the minimum requirements for 30 hours of professional development activities annually in line with the Psychology Board of Australia registration standards

The school-based Psychologist reports to the base school Principal for operational and administrative matters. They report to regional Senior Advisor/s Psychology and/or Senior Psychologists for all professional practice and clinical matters.
