Chemist (Shift Relief)

The Opportunity

Our Western Port Manufacturing facility is looking for a Chemist (Shift our Testing Services  team based in Hastings. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products Portfolio, we have four major manufacturing sites at Western Port which operate 24 x 7 and deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to export and domestic customers.

In this action-oriented role, you'll work with our high-quality products, such as COLORBOND steel. Utilising your technical knowledge with a curiosity of the "what" and "why" things happen, you'll work hands-on with our production teams to provide the best quality outcomes. Working in our National Association of Testing Authorities Australia (NATA) accredited laboratory, you will provide chemical analysis of our products, processes and environmental samples.

You will predominantly work Monday to Friday 8-hour days but also provide relief to the Shift Chemist position as required, this role requires flexibility when working a relief role. Located in Hastings, Victoria, you will have availability to work 12-hour shifts (including weekends and public holidays).

What Will You Do?

Working collaboratively with team whilst growing your knowledge and skills, you'll support the team through shift relief and hands on analytical testing. You will also:

• successfully contribute to a safe working environment
• with exposure to the production of these products and processes, you'll also ensure the quality analysis, evaluation, and manipulation of this data.
• utilise a range of different techniques and adapt existing processes, to help understand the root causes of production issues.
• ensure all testing methodology and routine maintenance is performed to our laboratory standards and Laboratory Quality Systems and take any necessary corrective actions
• proactively identify opportunities to improve and streamline our procedures or testing
