About The Role
We're seeking an experienced Payroll Coordinator to lead our payroll team, ensuring timely, compliant, and efficient end-to-end payroll operations, while providing strategic support and technical advice across all payroll and reporting functions.

In this role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide appropriate strategic and operational support and technical advice in all payroll and reporting requirements for the organisation.
  • To lead and ensure Council's payroll function is delivered in a timely and professional manner and that all legislative requirements are met, including run an end to end payroll function.
  • To consult with and develop a partnership approach to resolving payroll management issues.
  • To monitor and review all relevant legislation, standards, codes of practice that relate to the activities of a section to ensure that Council processes and documents adhere to these requirements.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive job related experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience in payroll audit including relevant reporting for month end, year end, superannuation etc.
  • Proven ability to interpret awards and industrial legislation and agreements to ensure compliance
  • Advanced skills in the operation and maintenance of a computerised payroll/workforce management system
  • Experience in the supervision and motivation of a small team
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet strict time frames
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
  • High level attention to detail
