Family Violence Counsellor

The Team:
The Family Violence Counselling and Support Service (FVCSS) provides specialised counselling and support to adults, children, and young people affected by family violence. As part of the Safe at Home service system, we prioritise the safety and wellbeing of victim survivors through trauma-informed, collaborative care.
The Role:
As a Family Violence Counsellor in the Children and Young Persons Program (CYPP), you will:
- Deliver therapeutic services to children and young people impacted by family violence.
- Conduct multi-level assessments and interventions tailored to individual needs.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic, best-practice support.
- Collaborate with families and service providers to manage complex care needs.
Key Skills:
We're looking for someone with:
- Strong knowledge of family violence trauma and its developmental impact on children and young people.
- Experience in therapeutic work with children and young people with complex needs.
- Ability to assess risk and safety within a specialist family violence framework.
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- A collaborative approach to working in multidisciplinary and dynamic environments.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement.
- Understanding of primary health care principles and child-centred practice.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time day worker, working 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
- notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary:
$73,834 to $111,364 per annum (pro rata) + our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022
Allowances:
You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Satisfactory completion of an approved allied health professional tertiary qualification/program of study and registered with the relevant National Board or in the case of self-regulated allied health professions with either full membership or eligible for membership with the relevant professional association
- Current Working with Children Registration
- Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee's responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
