Associate Director, Portfolio Relationship Management is a role within the Portfolio Management team, delivering the key credit analytical activity associated with originating and servicing SME customers complex transactions and managing a portfolio of customers throughout the credit lifecycle.As a senior member of the Portfolio Management team, coach and guide more junior team members and contribute to ongoing improvements with respect to processes and efficiency.

YOUR NEW ROLE

Location: Sydney

Role Type: Full-time, Permanent

Business Leadership

  • Support the Portfolio Relationship Management - Business Finance Director in managing the workflow across the portfolio day-to-day and provide coaching support to team members.
  • Role model best practice and lead the team to achieve a team standard
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of processes and ways of working across Business Finance and Risk teams.

Transaction Execution and Servicing

  • Manage credit analysis and assessments throughout the customer lifecycle from initial transaction assessments and writing new deals through to requests for variations, renewals and repeat business.
  • Manage the credit processes for customers with a high-risk profile or material value transactions.
  • Engage with the Business Finance team, Credit and Legal teams during the documentation and execution phases of a transaction to ensure a smooth process for the customer.
  • Work with the Lending Operations team to manage all administrative and operational aspects of the portfolio, including drawdowns, repayments, exposures and covenants.
  • Ensure internal reporting is monitored.

Culture and Leadership

  • Coach, guide, and mentor the Portfolio Relationship Management team to navigate the credit environment effectively and create positive customer experiences.
  • Assist the Director Portfolio Relationship Management Business Finance maintain an environment where Business Finance and Risk teams as well as interdepartmental teams are aligned and work together towards shared goals.

ABOUT YOU

  • Effective management of credit risk amongst high-risk customers.
  • Contribution towards growth aligned to SME targets for existing customers such as renewals and new business from existing customers.
  • Engagement with Transaction Execution & Solutions Managers, State Directors and Business Development Managers.
  • High Risk facilities – sound experience dealing with high-risk and non-performing files, ability to identify issues and assess what needs to be done to mitigate these.
  • Mid-market knowledge – sound understanding of how debt financing can meet the needs of small to medium sized businesses.
  • Deep understanding of loan structuring and credit risk management across a range of financing products.
  • Strong financial analysis skills to assess loan performance and perform stress testing. Proficiency in analysing borrower financial statements, cash flow, collateral values, and repayment capacity.
  • Ability to prepare high quality credit submission for transactions of increasing complexity. Ability to review and provide feedback and coaching to junior team members on papers.

SKILLS & QUALIFICIATIONS

  • Degree qualifications in Commerce, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Banking/Finance or Business and/or relevant technical disciplines.
  • 8+ years financing experience across business and/or corporate banking or similar. Demonstrated ability to manage a portfolio balancing the interests of customers and the lender.
  • Strong non-financial risk awareness including KYC and financial crime risks. Ability to proactively identify, assess and mitigate risks
