Kona Café operates beyond the typical café concept, providing a comprehensive menu featuring freshly prepared all-day breakfast, brunch, and lunch dishes, as well as signature main courses made from high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. With spacious dining areas accommodating around 80 seats, guests are invited to enjoy their meals in a comfortable dine-in setting. We are now seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our team and contribute to maintaining our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

The Chef will be a full time, with the ordinary work hours being 38 – 40 hours per week. Overtime might occur during festive periods or when there are special events.
Job Description:
● Assist in the daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and timely preparation of meals.● Prepare, cook, and serve dishes according to the menu and under the direction of the Head Chef, maintaining high standards of quality, presentation, and taste.● Ensure that all meals are prepared in accordance with food safety and hygiene regulations.● Monitor kitchen operations to maintain efficiency and adherence to workplace health and safety standards.● Support in maintaining stock control, including monitoring inventory, following FIFO procedures, and assisting with ordering and supplier coordination.● Minimise food wastage through effective portion control and efficient kitchen management practices.● Carry out routine kitchen procedures such as temperature checks, food labelling, and cleaning schedules.● Assist in achieving kitchen performance targets, including food quality, cost control, and timely service.● Ensure kitchen cleanliness and compliance with sanitation and hygiene requirements at all times.● Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive and professional kitchen environment and deliver a consistent dining experience to guests.
Qualifications:
● Completion of a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent and above● Minimum 2 years of work experience in a busy kitchen environment.● Having experience in a café or restaurant is preferred.● Have good communication skills and attitude, familiar with teamwork● Must be fluent in English
