About the team:

Situated with the Planning and Regulation department, the City Planning branch is responsible for long term planning and policy development to manage growth and development of our city while protecting and conserving our natural resources and heritage. The Strategic Infrastructure business unit is responsible for the coordination of planning and funding the city's trunk infrastructure and coordinating the Local Government Infrastructure Program (LGIP) process with network owners.

About your new role:

The Modelling and Visualisation Analyst is responsible for assisting with the modelling in support of the Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) and various projects including the development of City Planning's 3D Digital Urban Twin as well as developing and maintaining aspects of the Planning and Urban Growth (PUG) model. The Analyst will support aspects of the PUG model.

You will work alongside professionals with specialised skills in both policy and research and will contribute to exciting projects, urban analytics, strategic thinking and financial sustainability. Skills and experience in 3D modelling and scripting for planning are highly regarded and relevant to this role.

Position responsibilities:

  • Assist with development and maintenance of LGIP future growth scenarios including urban growth modelling, mapping and analysis.
  • Contribute 3D urban modelling expertise to support City Planning's Urban Twin including City Engine rule development and GIS integration.
  • Contribute to key projects relating to the use of Strategic Infrastructure's PUG model, including draft land use planning and other related planning scenarios.
  • Use sound corporate project methodology when assisting with various projects.
  • Create, review and make expert recommendations for multiple scenarios to support strategic planning and project proposals.
  • Simulate scenarios within 3D environments to support decision making.
  • Gather requirements from stakeholders and translate them to 3D planning solutions.
  • Ensure 3D plans comply with City standards, safety regulations and design guidelines.
  • Identify and make recommendations for improvements in 3D planning processes, tools and methodologies.
  • Contribute to a culture focused on high safety and wellbeing.
  • Ensure all activities undertaken reflect the organisations High Performance Principles

We're looking for people who have:

  • Bachelor's degree Urban and Regional Planning, Architecture or equivalent experience/knowledge.
  • Experience in 3D modelling and scripting for planning.
  • Ideally have infrastructure or land use planning experience in the development industry or Local and/or State Government.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a team environment and foster good relationships as part of a high-performing team.
  • Ability to prioritise problems, think laterally, gather and analyse information to identify symptoms and causes, and engage the right people to reach better outcomes.
  • Naturally innovative and willing to strive for improvement in the use of technology solutions.
  • A demonstrated commitment to safety from both a professional and personal perspective.
