**About Wayside Chapel**

Wayside Chapel has provided unconditional love, care and support for people on and around the streets of Kings Cross since 1964.

Under the banner of Love Over Hate, Wayside's programs and services are designed to ensure that the most marginalised members of our community have access to essential health, welfare, social and recreational services.

Each year, thousands of people visit Wayside's two centres in Kings Cross and Bondi for assistance in gaining equitable access to essential health, welfare and related services.

Our mission is creating community with no ‘us and them,’ breaking down the barriers of judgement and providing a safe place where people from all walks of life are welcome.

**About the role**

We are looking for a passionate and experienced hospitality all-rounder to join our Community Café team as Community Café All-Rounder. The Community Café All-Rounder will work at our Kings Cross Community Café, as part of the afternoon and evening service (14.00-21.30). This is a unique role for someone looking to combine their hospitality skills with supporting our community.

The Wayside Community Café is the hub of our community, serving affordable wholesome meals to some of Sydney's most vulnerable as well as staff and the local community.

The Community Café is also a social enterprise that forms part of Wayside’s youth employment pathway program, Wingspan. Young adults from Wingspan work within the café to develop valuable skills and to overcome barriers to sustainable employment, before transitioning out into jobs of their choosing.

**About the day-to-day**
- Create a customer-centric hospitality service and deliver exceptional food and service standards
- Support café operations, including opening and closing procedures, and cash handling
- Assist with basic food and beverage preparation
- Contribute to the Community Café culture by communicating professionally, developing positive work relationships and driving efficiency
- Oversee café volunteer’s and act as a point of contact when on shift
- Contribute to creating an inclusive and supportive service team, including volunteers and trainees from Wayside’s employment program, The Wingspan Project
- Assist in the professional development of the young adults from the Wingspan Project and support them to perform to the best of their abilities
- Perform other duties, such as providing shift support at other Wayside Chapel social enterprises (Bondi Beach) and event support

**About you**
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a customer service
- Ability to work 4 shifts a week, 14.00-21.30
- Well-developed communication skills
- The kindness, empathy and patience required to help train inexperienced or new team members
- A desire to be of service to some of our most vulnerable community members, including people experiencing homelessness and social isolation
- Flexible, open, can-do attitude
- A desire to make a real difference in our community
