**_About the role_**

The Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator is collaboratively involved in development, preparation, implementation and evaluation of activities for inpatient and community-based palliative care patients, in a service which innovates and explores new, best practice opportunities for engagement in patient defined activities of meaning, importance and purpose.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Day Hospice Coordinator and other team members in the planning, running and evaluation of therapeutic group and individual activities with patients attending the ‘Fig Tree’ Day Hospice program.
- Work with patients on special individual creative arts, life review or legacy projects with the support and supervision of the day hospice coordinator or other team members.
- With the leadership support of the Nursing Unit Manager and within the multidisciplinary team care model, support and assist patients with reablement goals or other activities defined by patients as meaningful and important.
- Work collaboratively and supportively with departmental volunteers to ensure optimal experience for patients, carers and volunteer staff.
- Contribute to a culture of collaboration and multidisciplinary approach to improve experience for palliative care patients and their families.

**_What you bring_**
- Relevant Cert IV qualification in either Leisure & Health, Aged Care, Disability Support, Allied Health Assistant or other equivalent qualification deemed appropriate by the organisation.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering wellbeing or engagement outcomes as a Leisure and Lifestyle coordinator or similar role in implementing creative and therapeutic programs for individuals or groups.
- Demonstrated experience in providing holistic care including competent patient manual handling and personal care assistance.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Full drivers licence
- A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation
- The Calvary Mater Newcastle is an Affiliated Health Organisation providing services to both public and private patients primarily from the Hunter New England area. Current employees of NSW Health can request to have various leave entitlement balances transferred to Calvary Mater Newcastle on commencement.
