
Child Care Worker

Wentworthville Childcare & Preschool is a family-centred early learning service providing high-quality care for children aged six weeks to six years. We are seeking a passionate and reliable Educator - Early Child Care Worker to join our close-knit team on a full-time basis.
This position requires a dedicated educator who demonstrates initiative, maintains strong relationships with children and families, and is willing to assist in service operations beyond classroom responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day to day operations of your allocated learning environment
- Provide high-quality education and care that aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS).
- Ensure supervision of children is active, adequate and efficient at all times, and implement and maintain clear expectations for children when establishing limits of appropriate behaviour.
- Development of holistic and culturally responsive education programs and responses to all children, within the context of their families and communities.
- Structure the indoor and outdoor environments and activities with a balance of active and passive learning areas to guide children to participate constructively, to explore, to learn and interact positively with other children in the group through play.
- Assist in developing individual learning plans and documenting children’s progress through observations and assessments.
- Build and maintain warm, respectful, and stable relationships with children and families to promote a sense of security and continuity.
- Support children's behaviour and wellbeing using positive guidance strategies.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging learning environment, indoors and outdoors.
- Contribute to team discussions, reflective practices, and continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Support the centre’s daily operations and management tasks as delegated by the Centre Director, such as contributing to resource planning, liaising with families, or mentoring junior staff.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Cert III (or higher) in Early Childhood Education and Care.
- Minimum 1 year of full-time experience in an early childhood education and care setting.
- Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certifications (HLTAID012 or equivalent).
- Valid NSW Working with Children Check.
- Excellent knowledge of the development of children in the 0-6 years age group and proven ability to plan appropriate programs
- Ability to evaluate and make recommendations to the leadership team on the planning and implementation of education and care programs within the service.
- Experience in undertaking educational program planning to meet the needs of all children within the service.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to build trusting relationships with children and families, promoting long-term engagement and continuity of care.
Desirable Attributes:
- A proactive approach to teamwork and service operations, including assisting with non-teaching responsibilities.
- Familiarity with digital platforms used for documenting children’s learning and centre communication.
- Commitment to professional growth and a genuine passion for early childhood education.
