**About the Aboriginal Cadetship**
Cadets are embedded within nursing teams across the main Austin Health campus, working alongside experienced nurses in a variety of clinical settings. You’ll be actively involved in ward-based care, supported by mentors and colleagues who value your contribution and growth. This team-based approach ensures you’re part of a workplace committed to inclusion, reconciliation, and excellence in healthcare.
**About the Role**
Austin Health is proud to offer a dedicated Aboriginal Nursing Cadetship Program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nursing students. As a cadet, you’ll be employed in the role of a Registered Undergraduate Student of Nursing (RUSON), gaining paid clinical experience while completing your studies. This role provides a unique opportunity to develop your clinical skills, build confidence, and contribute to patient care in a supportive and culturally safe environment.
**About you**
You will be someone who enjoys working as a part of a supportive team committed to excellence in patient care. You’ll have an interest in self-development and education, and actively seek out opportunities to grow your skillset. You will identify as a First Nations person.

**You’ll further have**:A commitment to delivering high quality, patient centred care. Be caring, pro-active and have an engaging manner. Currently in possession of a Working With Children Check, Ability to work both AM and PM shifts (around clinical placement), Must be enrolled in a Bachelor of Nursing and completed your first year of study
