Execute transformative Creative Vision with lasting impact
Our client is a globally renowned legacy in the international Ready-to-Wear market, seeking an innovative, thoughtful, and technically gifted Senior Designer to work closely with the Creative Director in bringing beautiful ranges to life, expanding the frontiers of the global fashion market while honouring the iconic brand DNA.
This role is a highly creative position responsible from concept, design and development of seasonal RTW / Resort womenswear product lines. Based in their Sydney Atelier, this position reports to the Creative Director and works collaboratively with the Senior Design Directors to lead the broader Design and Development teams.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Communicate seasonal concept ideas to the Creative Director through research, illustration, and sketching, suggesting initial story ideas across a breadth of moods, silhouettes, and artworks for print, embroidery and trims.
- Employ creative research, knowledge of new technologies, and vintage archives as input in key design elements, including fabrications, textures, developments, and colour palettes for each season in line with the Creative Director’s vision.
- Participate in Design meetings throughout each stage of the Design process, syncing with key internal stakeholders and providing a thorough set-up of pattern sheets for all approved styles for Technical and Production team use.
- Review the fit of new styles and effectively communicate with team members to provide input on proportions and finishes at all stages, nourishing internal relationships with all Design Room and Studio members to enhance a healthy team culture.
- Responsibly manage time to adhere to the company Critical Path and Design Room calendar.
- Provide input into the development and production of the sample ranges for press and sales.
- Act as a mentor to Designers and Junior Team members, sharing knowledge and technical expertise to develop internal talent through collaborative ways of working.
**Key Requirements**:
- A fashion design degree from a respected institution with outstanding results in both course work and in external competitions.
- 5 - 10 years’ experience as a Designer with an internationally recognised designer brand, with experience in a similar role or previously owning a premium label.
- Advanced Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign skills with exceptional drawing ability.
- The ability to demonstrate creative instincts and a distinct point of view with clear visual and verbal communication.
- In depth knowledge of technical garment construction, fabrication, and fit.
