About the role
Join Calvary Health Care Kogarah as a Level 2 Bereavement Counsellor, for a 12 month period, in the Calvary Bereavement Counselling Service, supporting individuals through the complex process of grief and loss. This role offers the opportunity to provide one-on-one counselling, conduct detailed assessments, and facilitate supportive sessions tailored to clients with pre
- and post-bereavement needs. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, helping clients manage their mental and emotional well-being. The position also involves supporting community and health professionals with grief-related consultations and contributing to remembrance services.
Calvary Bereavement Counselling Service is a free, accessible service for the St George and Sutherland area, offering face-to-face, phone, and telehealth counselling. Interpreter services and disability access are available, ensuring inclusive support for diverse communities.
About you
A Bachelor Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Social Work or an equivalent tertiary
qualification as recognised by the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and as per
the NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations’ Professional and Associated Staff Agreement 2022.
Demonstrated core competency skills in counselling.
High level knowledge of models of bereavement, grief & loss and counselling processes.
Demonstrated high level written, verbal and interpersonal skills, to both engage patients/clients and work
effectively with the multi-disciplinary team.
Demonstrated ability to exercise independent professional judgement in the provision of clinical care using
evidence-based practice, commensurate with years of experience.
Ability to work within the Mission and Values of Calvary Health Care Kogarah.
