As a Teacher of English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) you will have responsibility for the following:
- Work within school teams and with students, parents/caregivers and communities to identify and improve the learning outcomes of all EAL/D students
- Interrogate diagnostic data to identify the individual learning needs of the EAL/D students and respond by using and recommending targeted teaching strategies to maximise learning
- Assist with planning, preparation and delivery of differentiated teaching and learning for all EAL/D students focusing on English language acquisition across the curriculum
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to ensure adjustments to pedagogy and assessment for EAL/D students are planned and enacted when needed
- Deliver focused teaching support in classrooms alongside teachers to address barriers to learning and in response to diagnostic and formative assessment
- Provide targeted intensive teaching for small groups and individuals with identified EAL/D needs within the guidelines of the school inclusive education policy
- Support documentation of intervention responses for EAL/D learners requiring additional support (for example, establishing student profiles, completing support provisions One School)
- Case Manager students as part of developing a personalised learning plan to provide a single point of contact for individuals.
