Consultant- Parking/traffic Feasibility Studies
24 hours ago
Part Time progressing to Full Time
We are a consultancy firm based in Sydney that specialises in parking and traffic design. Our work is
multi-disciplined incorporating traffic design, shared zones, school parking studies, car park related
feasibility assessments, car park management advice, traffic impact assessments for new
developments and many others. Our clients are from all sectors and work cultures - making for an
interesting/challenging job overall.
We have found that most people working in our field, do not generally come from a similar pool of
expertise, yet have very diverse career backgrounds - bringing an array of skills from other
industries and professions. In fact only a minority of parking/traffic professionals have a formal
technical and engineering background. Most successful professionals tend to be accountants,
finance professionals, marketing professionals, security and electrical industry professionals,
contract managers and property managers.
For this particular role, you will be learning the ropes of the industry and will be mentored into a
client facing consulting role. Your main tasks will be preparing management reports for parking and
transport related projects. This will require you to understand client needs, prepare a scope of
works, organise field staff to conduct studies, and then prepare reports. In the initial stages of the
role you will be assisting one of the senior consultants in preparing proposals and drafting reports
including financial analysis where required. The ideal person will have most (not necessarily all) of
**the following attributes**:
- Strong writing skills including proficiency in MS Word (tables, styles, formatting), complex
grammar and the preparation of reports.
- Financial skills including: Financial/Data analysis in MS Excel, minimum basic understanding
of P&L and management accounting, ROI analysis etc
- Optional - engineering knowledge in Civil, electrical etc
- Government experience including: transport, policy, or any other discipline that requires
complex Benefit Cost Assessments including triple bottom line analysis
- Be a quick-study - and able to grasp technical ideas easily
- Well presented, likes working in diverse teams with a variety of disciplines. Many of our
clients have ‘steering groups’ whereby we act as the technical consultant to assist them with
major projects. This often results in the consultant being exposed to complex internal
politics that requires a mature and empathetic approach to sensitive issues.
- Communication skills - oral skills, presentations
Working arrangements
We support flexible working arrangements and understand the importance of fitting family life into
work life without too much overlap.
Initially 15 - 20 hours per week with the view of ramping this up to Full Time in 12 months or less
Equal Opportunity employerQualifications
Suits tertiary qualified individual that is interested in a part time role that will evolve into a full time
role within a 12 month period - e.g. a parent returning to workforce or a mature aged student etc.
