- Edinburgh - SA

**The Role**
We are seeking an experienced system engineer with significant knowledge of High Frequency (HF) radar systems. You will work collaboratively with the Discipline Leader of HF Passive Sensing to lead a multidisciplinary team to develop HF passive sensing capabilities for the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
As the HF Passive System Integration Specialist, you will:

- Lead and direct a multi-disciplinary team to develop real-time concept / operational demonstrators in the areas of HF passive sensing.
- Use scientific or technical knowledge to recommend the most effective solutions to achieve outcomes.
- Design and conduct field trials to assess performance of the operational demonstrators.
- Deliver high quality technical reporting including briefs and presentations.
- Work closely with industry and WASSSPO to transition HF passive sensing technologies developed by DSTG into operational capabilities for the ADF.
- Build and sustain collaborative relationships with Defence clients, industry and international partners.

**About our Team**
You will work closely with the High Frequency (HF) Passive Sensing Discipline in the ISR Protection (ISRP) STC.

The ISRP STC applies multi-disciplinary research together with sophisticated experimentation approaches to build knowledge in the areas of passive sensing, advanced radar signal processing, electronic protection and mission level protection. It develops resilient ISR technologies that support and protect ISR missions in contested and congested environments.

The HF Passive Sensing Discipline applies relevant theories from ionospheric physics, HF radar and signal processing to build knowledge about passive sensing in the congested HF spectral region.

It develops innovative technologies that exploit the long-range ionospheric propagating nature of HF radar systems to provide real-time and strategic situational awareness and builds operational demonstrators to practically demonstrate such capabilities and to inform Defence acquisitions.

We are looking for a motivated team player, able to understand the broad strategic context and has sound stakeholder engagement skills.

To succeed in this role, you must be able to demonstrate the following:

- Extensive knowledge of HF passive sensing technologies.
- Extensive experience in building real-time concept / operational demonstrators and in integrating new data / signal processing algorithms and hardware components into these systems.
- Sound communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to foster effective stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to work collaboratively across different teams, harnessing diverse views and encouraging an inclusive team culture.
- Experience with coding in languages such as Matlab/Octave, Python, and/or C++ and the development of software for both scientific analysis and real-time systems.
