Communications and Events Advisor

**Communications and Events Advisor**:
We’re searching for a communications and events superstar to join Cawthron’s Communications Team to help tell our world-class science stories and inspire the next generation of scientists through the delivery of engaging community and education events.

**About the role**:
The Communications and Events Advisor position is a dual role; supporting both the delivery of the Cawthron Institute Trust Board’s (CITB) annual events programme on behalf of the Trust Board as well as supporting the wider Cawthron Communications team.

As a community minded organisation - and in the spirit of our founder Thomas Cawthron - each year the Cawthron Institute Trust Board invests in science-based community initiatives, projects and education activities in the Te Tauihu region and your role will be to lead the delivery of this programme.

When you’re not working on outreach events, you’ll be supporting our Communications Team to produce event collateral and stakeholder communications, and helping with the smooth running of our digital channels. You’ll also support internal events where required, and work with our people across the organisation to support their communications efforts.

**About you**:
We’re seeking someone who’s a pro at planning ahead, juggling multiple deadlines, and prioritising competing demands. Managing event logistics (small or large) will be second nature to you.

You understand what great branded marketing material looks like to achieve event success. You are digitally savvy with excellent creative writing skills, and you have strong event and media connections, particularly in Te Tauihu.
- Demonstrable experience in event organisation, management and logistics, including in effectively managing budgets related to events and projects.
- Experience in producing written, digital and multimedia content for a wide range of communication and marketing channels and for a wide range of audiences, ideally with experience using MailChimp or other e-newsletter distribution technologies.
- Skills in developing and delivering communications about complex and/or technical material to a non-specialist audience
- Ability to thrive working to tight deadlines and juggling several projects at once
- Strong interpersonal communication and relationship skills, excellent decision-making skills.
