We are looking for an experienced Engineering and Maintenance Manager to join the Opal Bags team based out of our Thomastown manufacturing site.
The objective of the role is to maximise plant & equipment Reliability, Condition, and Availability in the most cost-effective way. Working with the key business leaders this role must identify synergies and best practice systems and procedures to ensure that the business executes strategies necessary to meet business targets. The goal is to not only meet Operational needs, but also to do so whilst complying with legislative and regulatory requirements and to challenge us to improve for the future and enable continual Out-performance.
You will contribute to the success of Opal by:
- Providing safety leadership across all maintenance & engineering activity at the site
- Overall accountability for all capital projects
- Strategic asset management and planning
- Contract management of our 3rd party maintenance providers and other site service providers
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives to reduce planned and unplanned downtime and cost of maintenance
- Management of a significant maintenance and capital projects budget
- Developing the capability of maintenance and engineering team members to ensure best in class maintenance performance

Specifically for this role, you will have;
- Extensive experience leading a commercially focussed Engineering/Maintenance function within a heavy manufacturing environment
- Excellent financial acumen and contract management experience
- Outstanding people leadership skills and a passion for continuous improvement
- Demonstrable experience in having delivered cost improvement initiatives
- An eye for innovation and an interest in the future of manufacturing
- Degree qualifications in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Automation)
