**About the role**:
Reporting to the Team Leader of Energy Spot Trading, you will be responsible for optimising and securing maximum gross margin through participation in physical spot trading markets on the East and West Coasts, which is an exciting prospect for those wanting to work on various portfolios. You will be in a team participating in a 7-day, 24-hour roster, implementing trading strategies in real time short-term power and gas markets.

**Duties**:

- Identify, assess, and manage commodity market risk exposures, always interacting with senior traders
- Maintain awareness of political and regulatory developments in relation to gas and power
- Contribute to the development and implementation of trading strategies to achieve over budget targets
- Develop and maintain productive internal and external relationships, including Alinta Energy’s broader Merchant Energy business and external market operators
- Ensure trading obligations are identified, assessed, and managed whilst collaborating with senior traders and the broader team

**Skills and experience**:

- Tertiary qualification in business, engineering, commerce, mathematics, or relevant numerical based discipline
- Exposure to energy markets including the Australian physical electricity and gas markets
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-starter attitude, attention to detail and commercial acumen
- Exposure in trading systems and processes highly desirable
