As the Retrieval Fellow - MedSTAR Kids or the Retrieval Registrar - MedSTAR Kids, you will provide the highest level of emergency medical patient care, treatment and transport to critically ill or injured children and neonates across South Australia. You will work with an experienced Neonatal and Paediatric Retrieval Nurse to deliver high quality, patient focused care via road vehicle, fixed wing aircraft or helicopter. You will bring experience in neonatal and paediatric critical care medical disciplines to provide immediate care to patients in inter-facility transport and retrieval environments.
Demonstrating independent and autonomous experience in the initial management of acutely ill and injured children and neonates, you will require the ability to effectively work within a multi-disciplinary team assembled in the pre
- and inter-hospital setting to address urgent and emergency health responses. Excellent communication skills with a focus on problem solving and conflict resolution will be essential.
Holding a Bachelor of Medicine: Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, you will be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as Medical Practitioner and satisfy mandatory registration requirements in accordance with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA). Your experience will include six months of Neonatal/Paediatric critical care experience, in a Level 6 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or Tertiary level Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.
You will be supported and mentored prior to independent retrieval operations and via ongoing teaching, training, audit and quality assurance activities and have the opportunity to gain experience operating as a member of a high functioning and experienced team of professional emergency medicine Physicians/Consultants, Paramedics and Nurses.
