**Purpose**

The Coordinator Infrastructure Planning plays a critical role in shaping the long-term
sustainability and performance of the City of Marion’s civil infrastructure assets. This position
provides expert advice in infrastructure planning, asset management, and risk-based
decision-making to ensure Council’s infrastructure meet the required service levels of quality,
function, capacity, and resilience. Acting as a strategic link between the Engineering and Civil
units, the role collaborates closely with the Asset Solutions, Finance team, and the Project
Management Office, along with other internal and external stakeholders. With a focus on
innovation and continuous improvement, the Coordinator Infrastructure Planning ensures
that infrastructure planning aligns with best practices in asset lifecycle management,
optimising service delivery for the community.

Aligned with the City of Marion’s vision for a liveable, sustainable community, this role ensures
infrastructure planning meets strategic objectives through systems thinking and evidence
- based decision-making. Leading an Infrastructure Asset Planner, the role fosters collaboration
to improve long-term asset outcomes and responsible stewardship.

**Key Deliverables**

The Coordinator Infrastructure Planning is responsible for:

- Coordinating capital works planning for civil infrastructure assets.
- Developing and reviewing Asset Management Plans and Business Process Manuals.
- Managing condition audits and defect inspection programs to assess infrastructure

performance and develop 4 year works programs.
- Conducting predictive modelling to guide asset renewal planning and investment.
- Providing expert advice on civil engineering and asset management to support

strategic decision-making.

Essential criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in providing strategic and operational advice on infrastructure planning

and asset management.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical ability to interpret complex information and present it clearly in strategic

plans, reports, and discussion papers.
- Comprehensive knowledge of asset management systems and financial principles to
