About us
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.
The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the role
Registrars of the Magistrates' Court perform a wide range of administrative tasks throughout the Court's registries in Victoria. These may include in-court (bench clerk) duties, client-contact (telephone and counter) enquiries, and back-of-office administrative responsibilities.
A Specialist Family Violence Court (SFVC) will be established at the Heidelberg Court. The objectives of the SFVCs are to provide:
- specialist support and effective legal responses for all victims and perpetrators
- better and safer access to the courts and specialist services
- appropriate joint responses for victims and perpetrators
- a skilled and sensitive workforce.
This role will form part of the SFVC team and will play an important part in delivering best practice responses to families experiencing family violence. This role has significant technical components and requires someone who has both an advanced understanding of the Court's protocols and procedures and a well developed understanding of the dynamics of family violence.

You need to have a Certificate IV in Government (Court Services) or equivalent.
