**About the Role**:
Exciting opportunity for a **Design Manager to join our NSW Projects team**, to manage all elements of engineering design including leadership of design consultants, on our upcoming rail and highway construction projects in Sydney.

**This is a permanent full-time position, office located in North Sydney with working from home flexibility.**

Reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager, you will ensure compliance to all relevant contractual obligations including design assurance, systems engineering, manufacturing liaison, configuration control, systems assurance, materials compliance and engineering change.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Develop relationships with internal engineering and design teams, external consultants and specialist D&C subcontractors, and form an active role with the pre-contracts and work winning team.
- Manage the work performance of self and direct reports to ensure objectives and milestones are achieved
- Ensure team’s capabilities are appropriate to achieve business goals, identify resource and skill gaps and develop strategies to bridge gaps
- Solve customer problems quickly and effectively, measure and track customer satisfaction
- Conduct regular reviews against plan and budget, taking action required to ensure financial objectives achieved
- Contribute to the strategic direction for the business unit in line with the DTI IPD strategy, with appropriate contributions from relevant team members

**About You**:

- Degree qualified in Engineering
- Design engineering experience in D&C management gained from road, rail and/or civil infrastructure
- Demonstrated relevant experience in leading engineering teams
- Understanding of all aspects of project delivery, including contractual requirements
- Strong Health and Safety focus in Design alignment, commitment and belief
- Proven successful ability managing stakeholder expectations, well developed communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
