**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Position Summary:
To perform as an active member of the Course Maintenance Team in the performance of necessary Course Maintenance and green keeping duties as outlined by the Course Superintendent.
Apprentice Sports Turf Managers will expand skills and knowledge as they are developed through formal role-based and work place training.
Education and Training
- 4-year Apprenticeship (or earlier, dependent on competency-based completion)
- Completion Qualification: Certificate III in Sports Turf Management

An apprenticeship provides combined on-the-job learning with structured training, where apprentices will learn an array of specialist practical skills and knowledge relevant Sports Turf Management.
Apprentice Sports Turf Managers will focus on assisting in the development and maintenance of sports facilities, parks, and gardens, and duties may include (but are not limited to) mowing, weeding, fertilising, litter collection, spraying (herbicides/pesticides), irrigation, watering duties and operation of equipment.
Work hours are generally 6.30-2.45 Monday
- Friday with weekend work on a rotating roster

Key Performance Areas

1. COURSE MAINTENANCE & PLANNING

To Assist the Course Manager / Superintendent in identifying the strategies and actions required to meet the Course Maintenance objectives set by the Committee.
- General green keeping duties as instructed by Course Manager
- Ensure Safe and efficient operation of all machinery, including mowing equipment
- Assist with set up of Golf Course for completion of competition rounds and general play
- Assist with bunker, rough, fairway and general golf course maintenance
- Pest identification and control
- Demonstrate an awareness of problems that may be compromising the maintenance of the course in accordance with the Turf Management Plan, Environmental Policy, and Occupational Health and Safety Policy.

2. COURSE OPERATIONS

To continuously improve and maintain the course in the highest quality condition by:

- Develop knowledge of the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components used on Course
- Ensuring a developing understanding of Golf Course irrigation systems
- Performing tasks that are necessary to keep maintenance facility and equipment clean, organised and safe on a daily basis as directed by Course Manager
- Fill in to perform all functions and Golf Course maintenance activities as directed by the Golf Course Manager / Superintendent.
- Ensure that personal protective and Safety equipment is worn as prescribed and required
- Assisting with bunker, rough, fairway and general Golf Course maintenance

3. COMMUNICATION WITH MEMBERS

To assist in keeping members informed of changing course conditions, by providing:

- Thoroughly assist in all safety training needs and procedures
- Works with the Superintendent and other Maintenance Team staff to constantly improve the golf course, club grounds, maintenance facility and safety programs
- Continues personal and professional Educational through attending Work Place Training, self-development and Turf Education Conferences
- Drivers licence
- Covid 19 vaccination

**SALARY**

$21,500 - $30,000 plus 10.5% Superannuation
- National Training Wage Award
- Fully Funded Qualification

**MORE INFORMATION**
- People with tertiary qualifications need not apply. Current university applicants may have to defer their studies to be eligible for this traineeship.
- This position is best suited to a recent secondary school leaver.
