**POSITION TITLE: Food Services Assistant**
**DEPARTMENT: Hotel Services**
**OPERATIONAL BASE: Karitane - Campbelltown Hospital Site**
**STATUS: Permanent Part time - 32 (base) hours per week**
- **Monday to Thursday (12:00pm-8:30pm)**

**CLASSIFICATION: Hospital Assistant Grade 2**
**VACCINATION CATEGORY: A (including annual influenza Vaccinations)**
**RESPONSIBLE for and to: Corporate Services Manager and/or onsite manager**

PURPOSE
The Food Services Assistant will provide a client focused service delivery, be responsible for performing a high standard of quality service to clients in the preparation, safe delivery and presentation of meals including cleaning duties of the dining area.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA: (Each criteria below is to be addressed in your cover letter)
1. Demonstrated experience in Catering, Food Services and Hotel services.
2. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and independently.
3. Physical capability to perform various cleaning, food service, meal support and catering duties.
4. Willingness to undertake training relevant to job role.
5. Demonstrated ability to adhere to the defined standards of ethical and professional conduct consistent with the current NSW Health Code of Conduct, Karitane Values, and other professional standards applicable to the position.
6. Ability to support HACCP accreditation preparation.
7. Certified in Food Safety practices.
**Duties: (General guide)**
- Perform cleaning duties within rostered area. This can include but not limited to dry and wet mopping, vacuuming, damp and dry dusting, sweeping exterior entrances, tables, chairs, highchairs and cleaning glassware, dishes and cutlery.
- Preparation, reheating and delivery/serving of meals including awareness of client’s dietary needs and preferences. This can also include the preparation of any other meals such as sandwiches. Assist and managing washware, benches and equipment in the kitchen and dining areas.
- Work within the HACCP guidelines including but not limited to safe storage of food and temperature controls and corrective action.
- Perform associated cleaning duties after serving resident meals and as per the cleaning schedule.
- Work in accordance with waste management principles and universal infection control precautions.
- Ensure relevant details are documented pertaining to service delivery.
- Maintain safe operating procedures of all equipment and ensure the environment is free of hazards.
- Wear identification at all times.
- Perform other duties as requested by Nurse Manager or Nurse Unit Manager.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
1. Permanent part-time position in accordance with the Named NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations’ Health Employees Agreement 2019. Karitane services are provided at a number of sites within the Sydney Metropolitan Area.
2. The majority of Karitane services close for approximately two weeks over the Christmas/New Year period, during which time employees are required to take leave.
