Assistant Nurse Unit Manager

Your role at St John of God Ballarat Hospital

As an Associate Nurse Unit Manager in our ICU/CCU team, you will be a responsible and effective team member assisting in the overall clinical management of the ICU and provide comprehensive patient care and supervision of care given by junior staff.

The Position- In the absence of the Nursing Unit Manager, the ANUM assumes responsibilities for the utilisation of personnel and management of unit in collaboration with Coordinator.- Assist and facilitates the effective communication of the Unit.- Assist the Nursing Unit Manager in collection of audits, statistics, staff performance management and productivity analysis data.- Monitors staff levels against budget/target levels related to number of bed days, occupancy and patient acuity. Adjusts staffing levels in consultation with the Unit Manager and/or Coordinator according to changes in levels.- Assist the Nursing Unit Manager in identifying resource needs and developing budgets and operational plans.- Discuss any concerns regarding patients and staff with Nursing Unit Manager/Coordinator.- Provide leadership and direction to team in the absence of the Nursing Unit Manager and act as a role model and resource person.- Provide direct total patient care to patients to achieve identified outcomes in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures.- Demonstrate knowledge of/and functions in accordance with legislation and common law affecting nursing practice and acknowledges accountability/responsibility for own actions.- Maintain and promotes harmonious interpersonal relationships and effective team work between staff, patient, relative, doctors and ancillary staff.- Assists and collaborates with team members in the assessment of allocated patients.

You will have a registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, have experience in critical care nursing, well developed analytical and problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to develop and build effective nursing, medical and interdisciplinary relationships and teams

We can offer you- Salary: $107,721 to $111,330 per annum (pro rata for part time)plus 11.5% superannuation- Permanent full time position, working 38 hours a week.
