**Division Responsibilities**

The Technology Assessment and Access Division (TAAD) supports the government and
works with key stakeholders to provide reliable, timely, safe and affordable access to
medicines, devices and other medical technologies and improved choice in health services
to all Australians, including through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS), Life Saving

Drugs Program, Prostheses List and blood, organ and tissue programs, and other targeted
assistance programs and other programs to improve health outcomes for all Australians.

**Branch Responsibilities**

The Pharmacy Branch delivers and continually improves programs and services which
provide reliable, timely and affordable access to: PBS funded medicines; aids and
appliances; medicines advice, and management and disposal of unwanted medicines
through community pharmacy. Programs and services are delivered to all Australians
through the PBS, Community Pharmacy Agreement and targeted assistance programs such
as the National Diabetes Services Scheme and others. The Branch evaluates its programs to
ensure that they reflect innovation in program design and administration, and achieve the
desired health outcomes.

**Section Responsibilities**

The PBS S100 Programs Section manages a number of PBS special access programs
established under Section 100 of the _National Health Act 1953_. This includes providing
policy and program advice for Highly Specialised Drugs (HSDs), growth hormone treatment,
access to In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) medicines, Efficient Funding of Chemotherapy (EFC), the
Botulinum Toxin Program, the Medication Program for Homeless People and the
development of new programs. The section is also responsible for the Take Home Naloxone
(THN) Program to make naloxone available free to people who may experience, or witness,
an opioid overdose.

**Role Description

This ongoing vacancy offers an opportunity to work in a well-established team providing

policy and program advice on programs including HSDs, EFC, THN Program and the

development of new programs.

While the positions in the TAAD are primarily based in Canberra, TAAD may consider

state based.

**Please note**: Applicants found suitable through this process will be placed in a merit pool

that may be used to fill similar positions (ongoing or non-ongoing) within the Division and

Department of Health and Aged Care for up to 18 months.

**Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team to support and assist a range of policy and program

responsibilities of the section in a dynamic environment.
- Providing high-level administrative support to the Section, including management of

the s100 Programs mailbox.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and develop and maintain productive

and effective working relationships.
- Assist with work to support the establishment of a review of the programs

(preparing meeting agendas/papers, briefing, correspondence).
- Conduct procurement activities to engage expertise to support the reviews in the

Section.
- Prepare ministerial correspondence, responses to enquiries, Senate Estimates briefs,

Minutes for Senior Executive and other briefing material on PBS S100 Programs as
required.
- Draft and assist in the delivery of monthly changes to s100 legislative instruments.
