**About the OPPORTUNITY**
We have an exciting opportunity for a Subcontract Manager to join our Production Subcontracts team based at our Osborne Shipyard in Adelaide reporting to our Senior Subcontract Manager.
As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for the establishment, placement and management of the appropriate contracting arrangements with suppliers to deliver the cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements of the business, which, through effective relationship and performance management, maximise value and minimise risk.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and/or hybrid working.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Support the development of robust supplier sourcing strategies for the business by engaging stakeholders across multiple functions to determine a best for business approach
- Lead the Supply Chain elements of bids and tenders ensuring robust definition of requirements and supplier contractual terms in line with customer requirements
- Lead supplier negotiations and finalise Supplier Agreements in accordance with set Delegations of Authority
- Effectively manage assigned contracts to ensure adherence to contractual obligations including payments, claims, warranties, cash flow and flow down of contract amendments
- Proactively manage the performance of the suppliers to achieve the requirements of the contract from a schedule, cost and quality perspective, developing and embedding the relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Facilitate and maintain effective working relationship with the suppliers, engaging with key stakeholders across all Programs to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach
- Identify and manage supplier risks and opportunities, including those of the suppliers' supply chains
- Proactively engage with key suppliers to enhance capability and efficiency and support the enterprise engagement of the Partner to Win Program for both Strategic and Critical suppliers
- Support the implementation of learning from experience practices within the team
- Manage Australian Industry Capability (AIC) plans in line with subcontract and project requirements
- Implement and follow procurement policies and processes as determined by the Supply Chain function ensuring compliance with the relevant acts, legislative requirements and ethical standards
**About YOU**
**You'll have**
- Ability to proactively gather and interpret data for the purpose of aiding decision making in the delivery of business strategies and plans
- Able to develop sourcing and contract management strategies, manage demand, drive compliance; and experience of conducting meetings/ presentations to senior managers
- Capability to act as a team member to achieve organisational objectives, showing flexibility to accommodate changing priorities
- Skill to form strong working relationships both internally and externally
- Able to contribute to the resolution of procurement issues
- Capability to act as a 'Self Starter' with limited supervision
- Sound commercial acumen with a proven capability in negotiation
- Proven successes of cost savings and driving cost reductions out of direct and/or indirect spend categories
- Previous experience in a similar role in either Defence, Construction or Oil and Gas industries (highly desirable)
- Demonstrated experience in software tools such as Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word and Oracle
