**Job Description** Join Our Team as a Microbiologist**
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated professional to lead and grow the hygiene and microbiology sections of our laboratory. In this full-time, ongoing role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring tests are performed to NATA and client specifications. The position operates on a rotating roster (Tuesday to Saturday or Monday to Friday, depending on business needs), with flexibility required for occasional weekend or public holiday work.

Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:

- Undertake routine preparation and analysis for environmental samples.
- Provide technical leadership and identify opportunities for obtaining optimum efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure the quality of data produced meets the standards of SGS’ quality policy, certification and stated data quality objectives.
- To assist with further developing microbiological testing for the business.
- Devise and perform developmental and validation work with new analytical methods and instrumentation to a level required to achieve NATA accreditation.
- Understand and promote SGS’ quality management system and ensure the laboratory QA/QC criteria and NATA accreditation requirements are continuously being met.
- Maintain and update skills, qualifications and knowledge through courses and on the job training to support improvement
- Assist management in promoting a safe working environment at all times.
- Perform other duties required to ensure the smooth running of the section and to ensure the expected outputs are performed within budget.
- To assist with microbiological related projects nationally if required.
- To assist in training and further developing staff in relation to microbiological services.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Laboratory Manager.

**Qualifications**
- BSc and postgraduate diploma of microbiology, or equivalent industry experience.
- Demonstrable commercial laboratory experience in environmental microbiology.
- Previous NATA signatory or delegated NATA signatory status
