**About the Role**
This presents a remarkable opportunity for a skilled writer with a curious mindset to join our team as a Research Communications Specialist. In this role, you will play a vital part in cultivating strong connections with both academics and media, enhancing the cohesion and frequency of our School's research presence in the media landscape.

Not only will you pioneer the framing of researchers' work for the media, but you'll also play a crucial role in communicating high-profile research endeavours.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Create a communications plan to support the Melbourne Law School (MLS) Research Strategy
- Develop a journalistic approach in translating research into media worthy content
- Oversee the execution of the plans in conjunction with the Communications Coordinator
- Provide regular updates to the Dean, Associate Deans and School Executive Director about media activity and general media appetite for key research areas

**Who we are looking for**
We are searching for an individual with a curious and creative mindset, preferably with a journalist background. This role calls for exceptional communication skills in both written and verbal formats. Your adaptable and agile work approach, coupled with your capacity to navigate ambiguity and make strategic decisions that align with the University's best interests, will be pivotal to your success in this position.

You will also have:

- Demonstrated substantial work experience within a relevant communications field and tertiary qualification in marketing, communications, business or a related discipline.
- Considerable experience in communications, leading to demonstrated successful delivery of strategic communications activities within a large and complex organisation.
- Ability to work to a high ethical standard ensuring professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
- Strong focus and demonstrated track record in delivering exceptional client service.
