**About the Role**:
An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Allied Health Assistant within the Northern Adult Inpatient Mental Health Unit

As the Allied Health Assistant you will operate under general direction of the nurse Unit Manager. The role contributes to the safe, efficient and professional operation of the Department resulting in improved patient outcomes and more efficient service delivery.

You will provide assistance and support to the Allied Health team, Social Work and Occupational Therapy in the delivery of allied health services to patients/clients of the Adult Inpatient Service.

The Successful applicant will work with the wider multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for the provision of effective psycho-social support and rehabilitation activities to patients who experience mental illness and other complex needs

You will be responsible for
- Supporting consumers to work towards the achievement of their recovery goals.
- Providing opportunities for consumers to participate in activities that support their recovery program.
- Assist with group programs.
- Support consumers to reintegrate into the community by undertaking activities identified by clinical staff.
- Supporting consumers to maintain their personal and health care.
- Encourage and support consumers to maintain contact with families and carers.
- Supporting patients/families to access financial services such as Centrelink and other financial benefits to which they are entitled.
- Liaising with accommodation providers in securing discharge accommodation for patients.

To be eligible for this position, you must hold a Certificate 4 in Allied Health Assistance, or equivalent

- National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving unsupervised contact with vulnerable groups required for this position (E.g. aged care employment or work involving vulnerable clients)
