**About the role**

Mater Mothers' Hospital Brisbane has an exciting new role available for a **Ward Steward**to join our team on a **casual** basis. The position requires someone with proven exceptional customer service experience.

As a Ward Steward you will support ward staff through the provision of a variety of non-clinical services, ensuring patient’s needs are met along with their support people/relatives.

**Salary range**:$31.23 - $33.68 (Operational Officer Level 2) per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and**access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900** +**access to many staff benefits

**What you’ll be doing**
As a Ward Steward, your experience and skills will see you seamlessly integrate into this outstanding team, assisting to provide an exceptional level of care and to hit-the-ground-running.

Your focus will be on:

- Ensuring that all new patients are orientated to the ward facilities and assisting patients when patients are discharged from the ward
- Assisting patients who require a wheelchair to attend other departments within the Mater Mothers’ Hospital ( e.g. Neonatal Critical Care Unit)
- Ensuring all patients basic comfort needs are met and all ward facilities and equipment is cleaned and maintained in a good working order
- Transporting charts and pathology specimens
- Ensuring all stock is stored appropriately using the first in first out principles

**About you**
In addition to your excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, to be considered suitable for this role you will also have:
Previous work experience in a service industry (e.g. experience working in a 4-5 star hospitality environment)
- Outstanding customer service
- Effective working style within a team environment and being part of a multidisciplinary team
- Initiative and target setting to enhance performance
- Excellent time management skills
- The ability to follow established guidelines, policies and procedures.
