We are currently looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the team based in Melbourne. Reporting to the Manager - Commercial and Quantity Surveying Services, this role will see you ensure the delivery of professional building cost management, premium property and construction cost, contract and consulting services. This role requires an understanding of the overall business goals and strategies and is responsible for ensuring integrated solutions.

- Responsibilities:_
- Inspect buildings during construction and existing buildings to make sure that proper methods and materials are used and that they conform to building regulations
- Assisting construction managers, architects and surveyors in planning and organisation
- Calculating costs and estimating time scales as well as collecting data using photographic equipment
- Provide advice and assistance to builders and owners before finalisation and lodgment of building plans
- Assess building plans submitted for approval to ensure confirmation of building codes
- Analyse operational performance and implement improvements where appropriate. Where not appropriate, make recommendations for operational performance improvements
- Accurate and detailing recording of data whilst on site as well as reporting and analysis of key performance indicators
- Review performance data and reports (Value at Risk, Detailed Cost Estimates, Verify Quote Costs etc.) to monitor and measure productivity, goal progress and activity levels to maximise operational efficiency
- About you:_
- Relevant Bachelor Degree i.e. Bachelor of Building and Construction Management, Bachelor of Construction Management and Property, Bachelor of Urban Development (Quantity Surveying and Cost Engineering) or Bachelor of Construction Management and Economics
- Sound knowledge of the insurance industry (claims lifecycle) including the legislative framework, applicable codes and products.
- Intermediate Microsoft office skills
- A thorough knowledge of building costs and construction techniques
- Experience working within the insurance industry on domestic and commercial losses
- Experience working with legal firms and insurance companies as an expert
- Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel and clients both verbally and written
- Proven technical competency
- A strong service delivery focus for clients, including insurers, customers and brokers
- The ability to work under pressure and meet targets
- Resilient with a growth mindset
