The primary focus of our Drainage Waterways and Coastal Planning department is to plan, manage and design the region's coastal, stormwater and floodplain management infrastructure, including built and natural form assets, consistent with Council's corporate strategic vision, policies and strategies.

As our **_Water Quality Officer, _**you will undertake technical investigations and design for a range of stormwater infrastructure matters particularly relating to stormwater quality infrastructure to meet the needs of the community within the Moreton Bay Regional Council area.

You will undertake planning and design in the field of environmental water quality management, including water quality in urban and rural waterways and waterbodies, water sensitive urban design, bio-retention systems and other SQIDs, and riparian rehabilitation to drive integrated and sustainable outcomes.

You will investigate environmental water quality problems and prepare and present technical reports and recommendations. You will assist in the development and implementation of the site specific and/or region wide, flood and water quality monitoring including overseeing the initial set up of automatic samplers, liaising with contractors, overseeing the maintenance schedule for automatic samplers, sample selection, preparation and storage and data management.

In this role you will engage proactively with key stakeholders responding to customer/client requests relating to flood and water quality data and services provided to the community.

**About you**:
We are seeking someone who has sound knowledge and experience in stormwater quality management and experience in the operation of water sampling infrastructure. You will have skills with regards to spatial analysis; preferably with water quality information datasets. You will have well developed problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve issues, time management skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines.

You will excellent communications skills with the ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders both internal and external.

- You will hold a Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Planning or equivalent experience._
