**The Position**:
The purpose of The Wilderness Society's Community Organising program is to build a grassroots movement and the people power required to deliver our vision.

The role is focused on offering support to 3 established volunteer Community Organising teams in Newcastle and surrounding suburbs. This means coaching team leaders, and supporting them in

their campaign mobilisation and community engagement work as required.

You will be supported by a National Lead Community Organiser, the NSW Campaigns Manager (based in Newcastle) and an experienced team of colleagues across different departments.

In addition to your core work, you will have the opportunity to be involved in campaign planning and delivery as well as aspects of the delivery of the Wilderness Society’s national Community

Organising program. The role involves inspiring, and retaining volunteers, while engaging target communities in meaningful dialogue and action.

The Community Organiser will work on broad cross-organisational movement building efforts, as well as on specific campaigns for the Wilderness Society. The role will involve collaboration with

Lead Community Organisers, Campaign staff and our Membership and Fundraising department to codesign community organising efforts with campaign and fundraising strategies.
