**The Role**

The Head of Exhibitions leads an expert and multi-disciplinary team of exhibition and AV specialists focused on the management, development, production, implementation and maintenance of all aspects of the exhibitions and gallery program in cooperation with other sections.

This program will include the total maintenance of approximately 12,000 sqm permanent exhibitions, galleries, temporary exhibitions and displays alongside an outreach program of touring exhibitions. The Head of Exhibitions will lead the integration of the currently expanding exhibitions into Memorial ongoing operations and continue to develop a further approximately 2,000 sqm of galleries in accordance with the Gallery MasterPlan. This role will ensure all gallery manuals, drawings and documentation is kept up to date and oversee all aspects of the integration of the completed exhibition and audio-visual/interactives into the Memorial-wide program including establishing the ongoing exhibitions program and operations.

**Core Responsibilities**
- Provide strategic leadership and vision through fostering creativity and collaboration to design, develop and deliver the Memorial’s exhibition program and forward schedule.
- Utilise extensive exhibition design and delivery expertise to effectively lead the management and maintenance of the permanent and touring exhibitions program.
- Develop and foster curatorial expertise through strong working relationships and proactive development of capability within the Memorial, and where required other external organisations, stakeholders, kindred institutions, government agencies and individuals regarding the Memorial’s exhibitions program.
- Develop effective working relationships with internal expert staff, contributors and senior management in providing active guidance and timely advice on exhibition development and program development to achieve public engagement outcomes.
- Provide leadership and management of the section in the development and implementation of the current exhibition program and associated works related to exhibition development, including:

- management of the development process and resource plans to support the forward schedule
- well considered forward budget and procurement planning
- oversight and effective guidance of curatorial, historical, conservation, visitor evaluation and safety considerations relevant to the program
- engaging and managing staff in accordance with the Memorial’s Values and Behaviours
- management of relevant external consultancies, vendors and stakeholders
- provision of high quality and professional advice to senior management, Council and Government
- written preparation of high level strategic documents, papers, correspondence and reports.
- Effectively manage and/or contribute to the development of funding submissions, sponsorship proposals and other funding-related proposals related to the exhibitions and gallery development programs.
- Plan and establish the operating environment and resources in support of the delivery and integration of significant new exhibitions and audio-visual presentations for Anzac Hall and Anzac Atrium into this overall program, including:

- Mentoring and leadership planning of staff and teams completing new exhibitions
- Effectively planning and managing staff transitions and recruitment
- Effective consolidation within the section of project documentation, artefacts and design assets for new exhibitions
