What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Project Officer.

Infrastructure Projects is responsible for the delivery of the organisations key capital works program including, but not limited to, refurbishment and fit out projects nationally. These roles will work within Infrastructure Projects to assist with initiating, planning and implementing projects within time, budget, scope and resourcing constraints and expectations. This delivery is achieved through establishing and leading projects under AFP governance framework, and delivering project outcomes through direct management of external contracts, including management, design and construction contracts and other contractors.

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

Assist with the development, delivery and implementation of capital works projects including managing minor to medium scale activities
Engage with key stakeholders and form project specific relationships, to ensure delivery of project outcomes in a successful and collaborative environment
Manage project procurement, contract management activities and participate in the negotiation of contracts and agreements, relating to capital works
Manage specific budget, financial, reporting and contractual administrative activities across the team
Provide the Senior Team Leader, Coordinator and AFP Senior Management with high quality advice and provide progress reports/briefings on capital works
Pursue, develop and nurture internal and external professional networks and collaborative working relationships to ensure the efficient and effective management of projects
Maintain accurate records and comply with the reporting and other regulatory requirements of Government
Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of accommodation solutions, principles, standards and policies in order to achieve efficient and optimal use of AFP premises and resources
Provide secretariat duties for various internal/external committee and stakeholder meetings
Essential Requirements

A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a like or related field.

Demonstrated experience in project support, finance, administration including for example budgets, financial management, reporting, procurement and contract management.

Demonstrated understanding and working experience of Government procurement including policies and legislation.

Desirable Requirements

Demonstrated experience in capital works, including refurbishments and fit out projects.

Project Management certificate, diploma or other qualification.

Knowledge of Commonwealth Contracting and Procurement.
