About the Role *

As an Assistant in Midwifery, you will work within our Maternity Service, under the direct supervision of registered midwives, where we are renowned for our holistic approach to high standards of clinical, evidence based perinatal care.

Essential skills & competencies: *
- Enrolled in an approved undergraduate nursing/midwifery program at second or third year level leading to a Bachelor of Midwifery and registration as a Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia;
- Demonstrates competency in basic nursing/midwifery practice to year level expected;
- Experience in problem solving, negotiation and conflict management;
- Developed interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to work and contribute positively in a team environment;
- Demonstrates initiative, flexibility and creativity;
- Demonstrated commitment to providing a quality service to the woman and her baby;
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Demonstrated ability to be responsible for own actions;
- Demonstrated ability to consult with other experienced staff when care requires expertise beyond own abilities and qualifications;
- Knowledge of OHS&W and continuous improvement practices;
- Knowledge of obligations relating to mandatory notifications; and
- Basic computer literacy.
- Willing to work across a seven day roster spanning all shift types
