The Strategic Communications team is part of the Communications Branch. The Branch ensures DVA's commitment to veterans and families through coordinated communication, handling media enquiries, managing social media, and providing graphic design, online publishing, and internal communications.
The Strategic Communications team develops and implements comprehensive strategies in partnership with department business areas to promote DVA programs and policies. The team also advises and supports the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs regarding communication opportunities and activities.

In this role, you will leverage your communications expertise to manage a diverse array of projects, delivering strategic advice and crafting impactful communication strategies. Your experience in government communications will be invaluable as you navigate complex priorities and provide high-level support to key stakeholders.

**Duties**
- Under limited supervision, shape and implement innovative communication strategies and plans for significant departmental projects and initiatives
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills, paired with an ability to negotiate and influence as you provide strategic communication advice to senior management and business areas
- Support the Assistant Director in team reporting and planning, and actively participate in a collaborative, high-performing team environment
- Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth and impactful communication across the board.
**Eligibility**
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
