The position will be responsible for the planning and delivering range of programs including counselling and casework support which aims to provide early intervention and prevention young people, families and communities in Fairfield and Liverpool LGA.

Drug and alcohol worker will focus on working with young people, parents of young people and communities within the Fairfield and Liverpool local Government areas. The Project will target early intervention and prevention models through workshops, group work, counselling, community development including one off events with an emphasis on education and harm minimization strategies. The project will work with various stakeholders in the community such as local high schools, educational and employment programs and other government and non-government organizations. The project will ensure and enhance sensitivity and knowledge of the issues and needs of communities from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds; it will advocate for and develop support networks for young people, families and communities.

**Responsibilities Include**:
To develop, implement and evaluate Centre based and outreach programs in order to address the issues and interests of young people, parents and the community.

Consult with stakeholders develop and implement alcohol and other drugs early intervention and prevention programs.

Promote and market programs and activities to ensure young people, parents and the community have the opportunity to participate.

Develop appropriate workshops and programs to build client and community’s awareness about alcohol and other drugs and access and to relevant services.

Provide alcohol and other drug counselling and support to individuals, families and groups in the community

Accept referrals from individuals, families and agencies in the community and provide casework support or counselling as required

Provide group counselling as requested

Maintain strict confidentiality guidelines regarding all clients, conversations and referrals

Undertake outreach to schools to provide workshops and programs about alcohol and other drugs, health and wellbeing.

Provide individuals, families and community with information on tobacco cessation programs.

Provide outreach/street work to young people ‘at risk’ who have dropped out of mainstream

Provide workshops to relevant organizations/individuals/groups as requested

Develop individual case plans, which includes assessment, goals and outcomes for the individual.

Conduct individual case management of clients

Ensure that all appropriate case notes are kept confidential and in a locked cabinet at all times.

Keep all relevant records and statistical data in relation to the client in the client’s file.

Develop referral process to ensure clients have access to other government and non-government.

Provide counselling on a one-to-one basis as requested, an opportunity to help deal with personal difficulties.

Advocate for clients to participate and connect with community resources, services and information.

Attend festivals and special events to promote awareness of programs to clients and communities

Coordinate and implement camps and activities/excursions to provide community development and capacity building activities

Keep all records and statistics in order to assist in reporting and evaluation of programs and activities.

Write reports, submissions, work plans and evaluations as required, within set timeframe

Attend team and Centre staff meetings and assist with day to day administrative duties.

Inform clients of CCS Privacy guidelines and Customer complaints procedures.

Relevant statistics are submitted to the team leader in accordance with departmental contractual agreement.

Deliver information and raise awareness of the impact of both illicit and legal drugs including harm minimisation, relapse intervention and other programs.

Attend and co-facilitate community events which raises awareness of D&A, tobacco use, health and wellbeing.

To refer target groups to appropriate services.

Provide information to clients regarding D & A issues.

Provide information to clients about relevant and appropriate services

Advocate on behalf of clients and provide relevant support

**Skills and Experiences**:
**Selection Criteria**:
Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in this area and in related fields.

Demonstrated experience working with young people 12 to 25 years and families and extensive experience working in D&A capacity.

Demonstrated experience and understanding in working with C
