Disability Support Worker

Your Support Circle is seeking compassionate, reliable, and skilled Disability Support Workers to join our team and provide person-centred support to an NDIS participant living in a Supported Independent Living (SIL) setting.
We are looking for workers who are confident, proactive, and able to follow detailed care and behaviour support plans while maintaining a warm, respectful approach.
**About the Role**
You will support the participant across daily living, community access, emotional regulation, and overnight supervision (as needed). Shifts include mornings, afternoons, and passive sleepovers.
Experience in **aged care, dementia, mental health, or psychosocial disability** is highly regarded.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Certificate 3 Individual Support / Aged - Disability (MUST HAVE)
- Cert 4 or EN Trained (Advantageous)
- NDIS clearance
- Working with Children clearance
- Medication trained (Preferred but not essential)
- First Aid / CPR
- Mental Health First Aid / Accidental Counsellor (Advantageous)
- Manual Handling
- Covid-19 Vaccinated x 3
- Flu Vaccination
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Daily Living & Personal Care**
- Assist with morning and evening routines, including showering, dressing, grooming, and continence care (prompting pad changes).
- Prompt and support medication administration (regular and PRN), ensuring compliance and accurate documentation.
- Plan and prepare meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner).
- Maintain a safe, clean home environment including light housework, laundry, bed making, and shopping.
- Provide 1:1 support, and occasional 1:3 support, ensuring the participant’s comfort, safety, and dignity at all times.
**Cognitive & Behavioural Support**
- Offer reassurance, emotional support, and calm guidance when the participant feels overwhelmed or distressed.
- Use positive behaviour support strategies to de-escalate heightened behaviours.
- Encourage completion of ADLs through clear, simple instructions and repetition.
- Support meaningful community participation, appointments, social outings, and group programs.
**Therapy & Equipment Support**
- Follow physiotherapy and OT recommendations: assist with manual handling, exercise routines, and safe mobility.
- Monitor assistive devices (walker, cane) and report issues promptly.
- Work collaboratively with allied health professionals during assessments and therapy visits.
**Overnight / Sleepover Duties**
- Provide passive overnight supervision.
- Respond to nighttime needs such as pad changes, disorientation, or reassurance.
- Maintain a calm, structured environment that supports safety and emotional regulation.
**Communication, Documentation & Teamwork**
- Complete accurate daily notes, handovers, medication charts, and incident reports.
- Communicate updates, concerns, or changes promptly to the management team.
- Attend training, supervision, and team meetings when required.
**Must-Have Skills & Attributes**
- Strong understanding of vision/hearing impairment, psychosocial disability, and mental health.
- Ability to follow detailed care plans, behaviour plans, and organisational procedures.
- Empathy, patience, and a calm, respectful approach—especially during distress or behavioural escalation.
- Excellent communication and written documentation skills.
- Reliable teamwork and interpersonal skills, including respectful engagement with family members.
- Flexibility to work across mornings (7-10am), afternoons (1-9pm), and occasional overnights (10pm-6am), including weekends and public holidays.

- Ability to follow and adhere to all required documentation that needs to be recorded in on CRM
- Ability to follow Organisational Policies and Procedures
- Own or have access to a registered vehicle, must be roadworthy and hold a valid driver's license
- **Competent English communication skills (verbal and written).**
- **Note: The participant experiences difficulty understanding strong accents.**_
- Ability to treat all clients with respect, dignity, and compassion under all circumstances
**Job Type**: Casual
Pay: $33.20 - $36.20 per hour
