**About the role**
Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact on people's lives? RACQ, one of the leading CTP insurers, is seeking a skilled and dedicated AIS Injury Coder to join our specialised team. This is a 12-month contract to cover a parental leave absence and has a genuine opportunity for permanency or extension. It is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our mission of providing exceptional service and support to our members in their time of need. As an AIS Injury Coder, you will play a crucial role in accurately coding and classifying injury data using the Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) system. Your primary responsibility will be to review medical records, accident reports, and other relevant documentation to assign appropriate AIS codes. This information is vital for evaluating crash severity, improving vehicle safety, and supporting injury prevention initiatives. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Review, analyse, interpret & accurately injury code CTP claims at various key stages during the life of a CTP claim, from intimation to finalisation
- Provide staff with ongoing assistance, development and coaching, with respect to injury coding
- Conduct audits to ensure coding accuracy
- Assist MAIC & Rehabilitation Service Advisors with preparation and involvement in injury coding audits, and
- Proactively participate & encourage identification of continuous improvement opportunities to improve service, cost, efficiency & effectiveness.
**About you**
We’re looking for a coding professional, who is either from the Insurance sector, or Allied Health sectors. As an AIS Injury Coder, you will have strong attention to detail, are data-quality focussed and are able to work to strict timeframes.** **Ideally you will have:
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in injury coding
- Preferably In-depth knowledge of the Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS 2005; 2008 Update) and its coding principles, or other coding experience with the desire to attain certification
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
