The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
**About the Role**
Key responsibilities include:
- As a Registrar of the Magistrates' Court, performing appropriate legal, administrative and quasi-judicial functions relating to the day-to-day and ongoing operations of the Court, under limited direction from the Registrar of the court.
- Liaising with the judiciary, magistracy, external organisations, groups and individuals that interface with the court.
- Operating relevant computer systems, including case-management systems such as Courtlink and other technologies.
- Assisting with the direction, supervision and training of staff.
- Assisting in the development, evaluation and implementation of new policies and procedures.
- Assisting in the supervision, security and maintenance of all court buildings and surrounds, if required
**About You**
- Certificate IV in Government (Court Services) or equivalent is desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge of legislation, practices, policies and procedures applicable to Victorian Courts and Tribunals
- This role has significant technical components as well as team leadership and people-management, including the supervision of registry staff and responsibility for their professional development and performance feedback.
