This role involves providing detailed insights, comprehensive reports, and actionable intelligence to bolster the government’s cybersecurity posture. **Key Accountabilities**:
- Monitor, identify assess and alert agencies to cyber security issues and threats including breaches and potential intrusion incidents.
- Use analysis tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) of threats to the government to determine attribution, motivation and capability.
- Produce timely and actionable intelligence and Incident reporting on emerging cyber trends, threats and issues affecting NSW assets.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and vendors to monitor, detect, report and share cyber vulnerabilities, incidents, threats and trends.
- Investigate and assess security breaches within a defined area of responsibility to maintain the compliance with WoG cyber security policies and standards.
- Provide recommendations to improve cyber security across NSW Government.
- Identify stakeholder requirements, prioritise workload and manage team portfolios to meet agreed outcomes and timeframes.
**About Cyber Security NSW Branch**:
The Cyber Security NSW is a whole-of-government function located within Digital.NSW in the Department of Customer Service. We are responsible for ensuring a cyber safe NSW. The protection of our systems and digital information is vital because of the many essential services NSW Government provides including health, emergency services, and transport. Furthermore, the exciting digital transformation being undertaken across NSW Government requires similarly enhanced cyber security capabilities.
**At the centre of this exciting and growing cyber capability, Cyber Security NSW is working across NSW Government to**:
- Create a whole-of-government integrated approach to managing cyber risk and responding to cyber security threats
- Increase cyber skills and awareness
- Understand the risks from cyber threats to our digital information and systems
- Set cyber security standards
- Ensure we are prepared if a damaging cyber incident occurs
**To be successful in the role you will**:
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge and understanding of current and the future NSW cyber security environment including threats and vulnerabilities to information, assets and services.
- Skills and experience in Incident Response
- Familiarity with threat actor TTPs, including common attack vectors, frameworks (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK), and emerging cyber threats.
- Capability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team, contributing to collective goals and shared responsibilities.
- Proficiency in identifying, analysing, containing, and mitigating cybersecurity incidents.
- On-call rostering 24/7 support
- Developing and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships to ensure oversight and value to cluster agencies from a WoG cyber security perspective.
- Ensuring work is completed to agreed timeframes while managing competing priorities and outputs.
- ** An Australian Citizen including the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline National Security Clearance and undergo a police check.**
Salary Grade 07/08 with the base salary for this role starting at $110266 base plus superannuation
