**About the role**:
We have an exciting opportunity available as a Junior Buyer within our Platypus Buying team. Reporting into the Buyer - Platypus, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of a select portfolio of brands within the Platypus Footwear category. This is a full time permanent opportunity based out of our Cremorne, VIC HQ.

**Your key responsibilities will be**:

- Develop and deliver product strategies for each brand in your portfolio, inline with Platypus’s overall strategy
- Manage complete range selection for your portfolio under the guidance of the Buyer including marketing, budgeting, price architecture and sourcing new product and suppliers
- Understand the current business and market and look at key growth areas and opportunity
- Actively research current trends relevant to your portfolio
- Manage administrative duties of total portfolio
- Liaise with Marketing team to develop promotional plan supporting key purchased stories/brands
- Liaise with National, State, Area and store managers to ensure you are in touch with issues on the ground regarding assigned brands.

**To be successful you will have**:

- Demonstrated experience as an Assistant Buyer or Buyers Assistant
- Solid experience in Merchandise Buying is essential
- A background in sneakers & footwear is highly advantageous
- Experience in trade marketing and negotiating skills
- A passion for products with experience in end to end ranging
- Ability to interpret in-season footwear trends
- Strong customer focus with a professional approach
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and other key stakeholders
- Ability to handle working in a diverse and dynamic environment
- Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
