**About the role**

The Resident Medical Officer (RMO) is part of the medical team responsible for the provision of clinical care and service provision to older patients under the care of Geriatric Medicine service, CALHN Geriatrics in the Home (GITH).

The role of the RMO will be to assess and admit patients to the unit from ED or from within the inpatient units, with set criteria, referral and triaging processes. They will be working with the multidisciplinary team to provide ongoing medical care and review patients in the community. The RMO will also liaise with staff, GPs, families, and other care providers. The role will offer a unique opportunity to obtain a wide range of clinical experience in management of semi-acute illnesses and Geriatric syndromes within the community setting with the aim of reducing the risks of hospitalisation in our vulnerable patient population. This will allow the RMO to navigate complex psycho-social dynamics, working within a well-supported multidisciplinary team.

The RMO will also participate in quality, safety, and clinical risk management activities as well as participation in research and continuous medical education activities.

This role would be directly supervised by Consultant Geriatricians.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Current National Police Clearance (NPC)
- Working With Children Check (DHS)
- Immunisation screening as indicated in the role description. SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

Educational/Vocational Qualifications
- Granted general registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
