**About the Role**
Reporting to the National Warehouse & Distribution Manager, the Transport Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the delivery performance to customers is maximised whilst minimising the overall freight costs. The Transport Coordinator will also be responsible for ensuring the transport processes and systems are working accurately and effectively and external carriers are performing adequately.
As Transport Coordinator your duties will include (but not limited to):
- Work to optimise freight costs and book whole trailers or B/Doubles
- Maximise efficiencies in transport/transfers (combining small orders etc)
- Maintaining specific and accurate customer information, carrier rate cards and data in the Transport Management System (TMS)
- Coordinating and controlling schedules for pickups of despatch pallets in racking / staging zones waiting for carrier pick ups
- Managing the company pallet accounts including costs of plain pallets to ensure accuracy of accounts and cost optimisation. This will include maintaining all appropriate procedures and processes required to maintain control of costs
- Conducting weekly reviews of excessive delays with carriers delivering to customers and resolve or escalate as required
- Identifying opportunities with new or existing carriers for cost optimisation on freight and manage integration back into TMS and DC operations
- Identifying opportunities with Sales Team on customer order frequency/size to optimise freight costs
- Working with our Category Team on any abnormal transport requirements for new product introduction, including cost to serve analysis
- Working with our Finance / Accounts Payable team on reviewing & approving weekly domestic transport invoices for all sites in a timely manner & challenge costs not agreed to on rate cards, including discussing variances directly with Carriers
- Ensuring high levels of accuracy in terms of correct cartons/pallet labelling matching sales order delivery dockets and stock to be despatched (objective is zero errors)
- Conducting audits to test accuracy of completed sales orders matches physical stock, delivery docket and carrier labels - track and report on accuracy weekly, discuss with DC Managers
**About You**
As the successful Transport Coordinator, you will be/have:
- Experience in transport logistics and regulatory requirements
- Solid working knowledge of high volume, cross country, and international transport requirements
- Experience in a wholesale environment
- Experience with Macship (ideal) or equivalent transport management system
- Experience or knowledge of pallet control processes / procedures
- Not be afraid to identify opportunities for improvement and drive the change
- Experience in NetSuite or related system
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
